This is the fourth book in the Woman's murder club. And I must say my favorite series by James Patterson.

This book by far is very edgy and being a cop's wife I know the feeling.

Lindsey Boxer out on call with her partner following up on a suspect's car that is wanted in a bunch of murders of teenage kids in the area. They try to make a traffic stop on the car, but they take off and the suspects end up crashing there car.  Upon reaching the suspects' car, Lindsey finds two kids in the car and one is crying and hurt. Lindsey puts her guard down and they shoulder there weapons and try to get these kids out of the car. Once out of the car Lindsey try's to speak with them to figure out what they were doing and found out they had stolen their father's car and did not want them to tell their father about it.  The teenage girl pulls out a gun and shoots Lindsey. Her Brother ends up shooting Lindsey's partner and a gun battle begins. When the kids think that both cops are dead Lindsey gets up on one knee and tells them to drop their weapons. The girl then fires again at Lindsey and misses and Lindsey shoots back and sadly hits and kills the girl.

Most of the book is based on Lindsey shooting the girl and the trial that they put Lindsey on. There is a bunch of secrets that come out but I'm not going to ruin the book and spill the beans.

Lindsey is put on leave with the police force and goes to her sister's home in Half Moon bay to relax. While there, she discovers a string of murders and starts work on investigating them.  Lindsey finds a link in a unsolved murder that has been haunted her for years.

Everything seems to blow up right before the big annual 4th of July celebration on the waterfront at Half moon Bay.

As summer comes to full swing, Lindsay battles for her life on two fronts: before a judge and jury as her trail comes to a climax, and facing unknown adversaries who will do anything to keep her from the truth about the killings, including killing again.
