Review: Broken Things

Broken Things Broken Things by Lauren Oliver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

we begin this story with 3 young girls who were bound together at the hip, like most young girl friendships, you didn't see one without the other. The teachers at their school would say the same thing. the 3 amigos. Mia, Brynn and Samantha.

Mia was a very gifted dancer, a selective mute and smart. Brynn was a loner and *gasp* a lesbian. Samantha was the odd ball out. she just moved to town and was a foster child being bounced for house to house to brought the 3 girls together one summer. Samantha also pushed her obsession with an obscure child's book called THE WAY INTO LOVELORN.

this story was left un-finished and the girls decided to write a fan fiction finishing the book. The problem. they thought the town of lovelorn in the book was real.

so when Samantha is brutally murdered, stabbed multiple times in a circle of rocks (kinda of like in the book) everyone points a finger to mia and Brynn. The boy next door Owen as also been charged with the murder. Ultimiately the kids were found not guilty and have to move on with their lives.

Mia has became uninterested in dance and is now homeschool from the bullying. her mother suffering from a hoarder problem. Brynn is in and out of rehab because that is where she feels safe, not because she has any additions.

Suddenly they find themselves all together again, and this time they are trying to find the real killer.

the chapters are told between Brynn and mia and I found myself more interested in the characters lives then the actually story LOL.

the author built up so much suspense and mystery that I was a little let down with the ending. don't get me wrong. the ending was not bad, but with all the build up I just excepted so much more... that's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.

well worth the read and you will be rushing to the end to figure out what happened and who done it.

I was shocked and for the first time did not guess who it was till the end.....
